Setting sail aboard the MS Skorpios III from October to April from the Skorpios Terminal in the city of Puerto Natales, locates 2,500 km south of Santiago, which can be accessed by air from Punta Arenas or by land from Argentina, starting this 4-night, 5-day sea voyage to the Southern Patagonian Ice Field following the Kaweskar route, sailing 505 miles to visit the largest number of glaciers in this region: Guilliard, Amalia, El Brujo (the Warlock), and the glaciers of Calvo, Bernal, and Herman fjords. About 15 glaciers where we will perform activities such as sightseeing, contemplation, walks to their fronts and moraines navigating between colored icebergs in expedition boats such as Capitán Constantino (Captain Constantine) during which we can observe the varied flora and fauna of Patagonia, still in a wild and virgin state, such as elephant seals in the Guardramiro fjord.

DAY 1 SKORPIOS TERMINAL - GUARDRAMIRO FJORD

Boarding begins at 9:00 am. Midday (12:00 hrs) departure from Skorpios terminal. There will be a brief explanation about safety on the ship, and the place to meet will be indicated. 2:00 pm. Lunch. We continue sailing through the Almirante Montt Gulf. 4:30 pm. We arrive at Caleta Juárez in the Guardramiro Fjord. Disembark on boats to see a colony of elephant seals. 6:00 pm. We cross the Angostura Kirke, Morla Vicuña, Unión, Collingwood and Sarmiento channels.

DAY 2 GUILLARD GLACIER - AMALIA GLACIER

6:00 am. We sail north through Pitt Channel, Chatam Island to port. 8:45 am. We enter the Guillard Fjord, navigating along the interior of the fjord to the Guillard Glacier. Disembark at the Glacier and tour the site according to weather and tide conditions. 11:30 am. Sail heading south. 1:00 pm. Lunch. 4:00 pm. Arrival at the Amalia Glacier and boat trips around the bay of this wonderful place. If conditions allow us, we will disembark, as this glacier which is in constant movement and has modified its beach and surroundings. 8:30 pm. Dinner on board.

DAY 3 EL BRUJO GLACIER - CALVO FJORD - MOUNTAINS FJORD

8:00 am. Arrival at El Brujo Glacier. 9:15 am. Depending on the weather conditions and ice, we can descend to admire this Glacier from a nearby rock. 11:30 am. We sail to the spectacular Calvo Fjord. 1:00 pm. Lunch time. 4:00 pm. Tour to Fjord Calvo, where an excursion is made on a boat suitable for sailing through the ice, called Captain Constantino, visiting the Fernando, Captain Constantino and Alipio glaciers, among others. 8:00 pm. We sail to the Mountains Fjord.

DAY 4 MOUNTAINS FJORD - ALMIRANTE MONTT GULF

8:00 am. Visit to the Mountains Fjord, where you can observe four glaciers that descend from the Sarmiento Mountain Range to the sea, and Skorpios was the pioneer cruise to visit two of them. 9:00 am. Visit to the Alsina Glacier, disembarking on exploration- type boats to discover this small bay and appreciate the beauty of this glacier and the enormous mountains that surround it. 10:30 am. Return to the ship, we continue sailing through the Mountains Fjord towards the Bernal Glacier. 11:00 am. Disembarkation at the Bernal Glacier. The walk begins through a small native forest and along a path that crosses a small glacial water lagoon. We continued the walk along the frontal and lateral “morrena” (type of rock crushed by the glacier), until we reached the front of the Glacier. From here we will have the opportunity to touch some ice and observe the retreat phase of a glacier that no longer reaches the sea. 12:45 pm. Return to the boat, which is refueling to provide pure and natural water from a waterfall. This water is consumed on board by all the boat’s services. 1:30 pm. Lunch time. 2:00 pm. Sailing through the Mountains Fjord where we can see the Herman and Zamudio glaciers. 5:00 pm. We begin crossing the Angostura White. 8:30 pm. Farewell party, Captain’s dinner and dance. Navigation through the Almirante Montt Gulf.

DAY 5 PUERTO NATALES

Between 2:00 and 7:00 am. Arrival in Puerto Natales. 8:00 am. Breakfast and 9:30 am. Start of passenger disembarkation. End of the Cruise.

MV Skorpios III

MV Skorpios III was built in 1995 at the Skorpios shipyard, Chile, according to SOLAS and IMO rules, and ABS (American Bureau of Shipping) classification, class N° 951.93.18 A1 ice. Her cabins and hotel infrastructure were remodeled in 2012. It is 70 metres long, has a 10-metre beam and a 3.30 metre draft, displacing 1,600 tons.
It has a capacity of up to 90 passengers berthed in 45 double cabins and distributed in 5 decks; cabins offer twin, queen or king-sized beds. All cabins have private toilet facilities, plasma TV and background music and a safety box. The ship has two comfortable bar lounges, and an ample panoramic dining room.

Our service is based on an attention that is personalized, cordial and pleasant, as is the temperament of the people of the south of Chile and which is also part of our distinctive family service with international quality and style The slightest detail has top priority in terms of the service offered by Skorpios. Our daily target is to satisfy our passengers’ needs.
