DAY 1 ARRIVAL IN PORTO (approx. 13km)

Upon arrival in Porto, pick up your car from the Europcar car-hire desk at Porto Airport and drive downtown to the historic centre of Porto to stay in your hotel. Included in your stay is one dinner at the local restaurant, Chez Lapin, in Porto, within walking distance from the hotel. You will have the chance to taste some unique Portuguese flavours.

DAY 2 PORTO

After breakfast, you will have our regular guided walking tour in Porto specialized in food (approx. 3hrs) with local English-speaking guide that will introduce you to the real Porto and taste different foods and different beverages (not included). Afternoon is at your leisure. For dinner, we suggest you a nice walk to Douro riverbank; you will find several restaurants near Dom Luis Bridge with a Douro River view. Don’t lose the chance to enjoy the tapas and wine in Quay Wine Bar (not included). Overnight at your hotel.

DAY 3 COVAS DO DOURO (approx. 131km)

Breakfast at the hotel. Depart in direction to the Douro Valley (Covas do Douro), the birthplace of the famous Port Wine, for your next experience at Quinta Nova Luxury Winery House Wine producer. Check-in at Quinta Nova Luxury Winery House for 2 relaxing nights. Included during your stay is one dinner at Quinta Nova restaurant.

DAY 4 COVAS DO DOURO

Enjoy your breakfast and in the morning, you will have an authentic wine experience, a guided visit to the wine cellar and taste 3 wines produced in the Quinta Nova winery. The rest of the day is at leisure. You can explore the region or just relax at the hotel in the gardens or terraces, or even in the lovely pool between vineyards. Overnight at your hotel.

DAY 5 VISEU – COIMBRA (approx. 235km)

Breakfast at the hotel. Departure from the beautiful Douro valley direction south through the mountainous hinterland, passing by Viseu to Coimbra, for your next stay. Viseu is the centre of the Dão Vineyards and a city connected with Portugal´s oldest hero, Viriato, the Lusitanian chief. In the shadow of the Cathedral, narrow street sand doorways with coats of arms carved in granite make up the ancient town of Viseu. On your route, you have a chance to taste the flavours from the region, including a wine experience in the wine cellar Casa de Santar in Santar (16 km south of Viseu). Following your tasting visit, drive to Coimbra, for your next accommodation. In Coimbra, we suggest having a glass of wine while you enjoy a listen to the unique Fado music in a 14th century chapel – À Capella Cultural Centre (not included). Overnight at Hotel Quinta das Lagrimas.

DAY 6 COIMBRA – LISBON (approx. 235km)

After breakfast, enjoy the historical city of Coimbra. See the University, one of the oldest in the world, with its magnificent baroque library and its unique atmosphere, characterized by ancient traditions and customs such as the black cape of the students and the melancholic Fado music. Visit St Clara Church, where lies the tomb of Queen St. Isabel, the protagonist of the “miracle of the roses”. In the centre you can admire the exclusive ceramic of Coimbra. Your next stay and last stop will be the glamorous city of Lisbon.
On the way to Lisbon, we suggest visit to Alcobaça Monastery, the first and largest gothic church in Portugal with the tombs of D. Pedro and Inês de Castro, known by its love story. Stop in Nazaré, a typical fishing village and seaside resort, with its traditions and legends. And then Óbidos, surrounded by medieval walls where we can admire the harmony of the architecture, the diversity of the handicrafts and taste the famous ginginha (bitter cherry liqueur; tasting not included). Overnight at Hotel Porto Bay Liberdade in Lisbon.

DAY 7 LISBON

Breakfast at the hotel. Wake up your taste buds for the flavours and your senses for the history and culture of Lisbon city. In our 3.5 hours regular walking tour (in English), we visit several spots that link tradition with modernity, and brilliant restaurant concepts reinvented - from the market to the hotel - school - and create culinary recipes that have become world famous. The rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight at your hotel.

DAY 8 LISBON

Breakfast at the hotel. Free day at leisure. While in Lisbon, we suggest visiting Sintra, the town where the royal family spent their summers and where you will find the town’s National Palace, the impressive and romantic Pena Palace. Don’t miss the chance to taste some of Sintra’s famous pastries. See Cascais, with its Boca do Inferno wave waterspout and the magnificent panorama out over the Bay of Cascais and the coast. Also visit Estoril with its famous Casino. Enjoy a memorable experience in a local Fado restaurant in Lisbon, which includes a dinner with drinks at a Fado restaurant, Casa de Linhares, with Fado show in Lisbon. Overnight at your hotel.
