The Yasawa Group of islands are more grand in stature than the nearby Mamanucas but are less commercialized. Previously, this group of islands was primarily visited by backpackers mostly due to the abundance of small family run properties who targeted visitors with a lesser budget and who were happy with fewer amenities and facilities in the properties in order to enjoy the gorgeous beaches and abundant sunshine. There were a couple of stand-out higher end resorts such as Yasawa Island Resort and Turtle Island Resort but little choice in the mid-price range. However, over the last few years, smaller boutique resorts have been opening and now there are choices for every pocket book.
